Washing a microfibre cloth
There are many different types of cleaning cloths on the market. Some people use an old towel or shirt torn into pieces, while others use a microfibre cloth. Professionals usually use only microfibre cloths, and often several different types. You use a different cloth for paintwork than you would for glass. The same applies to wheels and the interior of your car.
In short, there is plenty of choice. We recommend always cleaning your car with cleaning cloths that are suitable for the job. It is also important to use the right drying towels when drying your car.
Can you use a microfibre cloth only once? Of course not. A good microfibre cloth can be reused many times, as long as you wash it properly.
A microfibre cloth consists of many tiny fibres. That is why some people worry that the cloth will become hard and unusable after washing. This can happen if you use the wrong detergents or washing method.
We have developed a special detergent that allows you to safely wash all microfibre cloths. The best news is that, as long as they have not come into contact with tyre dressing or tar and glue remover, you can clean your microfibres and reuse them again and again. Below, we explain the best way to do this.
Washing a microfibre cloth with detergent
You can easily wash a microfibre cloth yourself. This can be done with a normal detergent. Set your washing machine to a fast spin cycle and wash at no more than 30 degrees Celsius.
A low temperature prevents the fibres from fusing together and damaging the cloths. The fast spin cycle removes most of the water after washing.
Once the washing machine has finished, hang the cloths to air-dry at room temperature. Only fold them for reuse once they are completely dry.
By washing them this way, you can use your microfibre cloths many more times. After all, they will get dirty again during the next cleaning session.
