Can a clogged DPF cause turbo damage?

11-02-2022

A clogged diesel particulate filter can cause turbo damage. The exhaust system is a crucial part of the car, and it is important to keep it in good condition.

A clogged DPF can damage the turbo because the exhaust system must be able to release all gases produced by the engine. If there is a blockage, these gases cannot flow out properly. This can increase pressure in the exhaust system, which may eventually lead to turbo damage.

The best way to prevent this problem is to regularly check your car’s exhaust system for blockages or other issues. You can also choose to use a diesel additive. This improves diesel quality, resulting in better combustion and less soot formation. As a result, the DPF is less likely to become clogged.
