Are you experiencing problems with your diesel particulate filter? Common symptoms include fault messages, reduced power and a jerking or hesitating car. These issues often indicate that the diesel particulate filter is no longer working properly.
In that case, the DPF may be saturated. It can then be replaced, removed or cleaned with a fuel additive such as a DPF cleaner.
Removing the DPF
If you choose to remove the diesel particulate filter, this may result in more power and improved fuel economy. However, removing a DPF is at your own risk, because it is not legally allowed.
From 1 January 2023, all diesel engines are tested for particulate emissions during the Dutch APK inspection. This is called a particulate test. Vehicles without a diesel particulate filter can be identified this way.
Driving without a DPF is therefore a significant risk. On top of that, the cost of removing the filter is usually between €500 and €700.
An alternative to removing the DPF
We understand that it is frustrating to constantly see warning messages on the dashboard. The related problems are, of course, also unpleasant. However, there is another option to consider: adding a DPF cleaner.
For this purpose, we developed the Lindemann Total Care Diesel. This is a powerful DPF cleaner suitable for one full tank of fuel.
It cleans the entire fuel, intake and exhaust system, including the injectors, intake, exhaust, turbo, EGR valve and, of course, the diesel particulate filter.
