Cleaning car mats is by far the most boring cleaning job there is. You take all the dirt outside the car inside, after which it remains on the car mats. Over time, the car mats become dirty and need to be cleaned. We have some tips on how best to clean the car mats.
Knocking out car mats
First remove your mats from the car, first knock out the car mats thoroughly to remove the worst dirt (do this outside of course) and give them a good tap on the back. You will see that the coarse dirt in the fibers flies off. Now place the car mats on a nice flat surface.
Car mats cleaning vacuum cleaner
After knocking out, it is wise to clean the car mats with a vacuum cleaner. You can easily suck off the other dirt such as stones, mud, etc. from the mat. Tip: grab an old vacuum cleaner if you have one! After vacuuming, the car mats will look a lot cleaner. If there is still a lot of dirt stuck, try giving the carpet a firm blow with the palm of your hand in front of the vacuum cleaner.
Clean car mats with Velorest products
As soon as the car mats are free of dirt, mist them lightly with the Velorest Interior Cleaner. Remember that you don't have to spray them completely, a small mist is sufficient. Now gently massage Velorest's Interior Cleaner into the carpet with an upholstery brush, unless there are particularly tough stains you don't need to apply much pressure, this is more about sanitizing and thoroughly cleaning the fabric. While the mats are still damp, you can give them the finishing touches with the brush. Stripping car mats is easy if you know how, first brush all the fabric in one direction in the same direction so that the fibers lie flat. Now you can create a pattern by brushing the fibers in the opposite direction so they stay upright. The contrast is simply created by the light falling on the flat or raised fibers.
Once you are happy with your stripes, allow your mats to dry completely. This makes the fibers slightly stiffer and gives the stripes slightly more durability. The car mats look like new again! We recommend that you first follow the first two steps before starting interior cleaner comes into play. When using car polishes, the rule always applies: the more dirt you can remove without products, the better. It is a waste of the product to use it for dirt that you can also clean without a product.
