Lubricating a lock

08-11-2021

Help, my key will not turn. How can I solve this myself? If your key is stuck in the lock or you can no longer turn it, the door lock may need lubrication.

If you do not do this, damage may occur and you may eventually need to replace the lock. Always lubricate a new lock before use as well, to prevent the same kind of damage from happening again.

Lubricating a door lock

Lubricating a door lock is important to prevent damage and to make sure the key turns smoothly inside the lock. Lindemann offers a lubricant, a dry lubrication product for locks, based on Teflon that significantly reduces friction.

It contains no grease or silicone and leaves behind a smooth film layer that extends the lifespan of locks and cylinders. Friction Free also does not attract dust or dirt and helps prevent your key from getting stuck in the lock.

You can lubricate the cylinders of both interior and exterior doors.
