Both when topping up engine oil and when adding oil additives, we recommend that you never exceed the oil level. If there is too much oil in the engine, this can cause a lot of mechanical damage. This can vary from oil leakage to internal contamination such as “black sludge” formation. With diesel engines in particular, it can even cause problems particulate filter.
However, the greater the oil surplus, the greater the possible damage. So don't panic if the dipstick shows that there is a tiny bit too much. However, it is good to keep this in mind!
