Cleaning a hybrid engine

Cleaning a hybrid engine

Hybrid cars are becoming more and more common, and this will only increase in the future. Whether or not they are the future, one thing remains true: a hybrid car still has a petrol or diesel engine alongside its electric support system, so it does not run fully electric.

This combination raises many questions. Is a hybrid more economical than a full combustion engine? What is the range on the electric motor? How long does the battery last? Is a hybrid car expensive to buy? These are all important questions when considering a hybrid car.

However, if you already own a hybrid car, you naturally want to maintain it properly, just like any other car. Cleaning a hybrid car annually is also part of that maintenance.

Cleaning a hybrid engine with an additive

A hybrid car is essentially a combustion engine combined with an electric motor. These cars were introduced because emission standards have become increasingly strict. The emissions of a hybrid car are lower, but at the same time this also creates a point of discussion.

Hybrid cars are known for lower fuel consumption thanks to electric drive support. However, the combustion engine does not always reach the correct operating temperature, and the start-stop system can contribute to contamination and wear.

For internal cleaning of a hybrid engine, we recommend Lindemann Oil System Cleaner. This oil flush cleans the entire oil system, including the piston rings, piston ring grooves and hydraulic valves.

By adding Lindemann Engine Performance Treatment, wear can be prevented and the engine will work more efficiently and run more smoothly.

Because a hybrid car does not normally idle in the same way as a full combustion-engine vehicle, cleaning it works differently. A conventional combustion engine needs to idle during cleaning, but with a hybrid you will need to drive with the motor flush for 10 to 15 minutes at low revs.

Our best advice for cleaning your hybrid engine is to mix half a bottle of motor flush with half a bottle of Engine Performance Treatment. This combination ensures lubrication is present while driving and prevents dirt residues from causing damage. After that, you can easily change the oil and add the remaining half of the Engine Performance Treatment.

If you want to keep the fuel system continuously clean, Lindemann Service Cleaner Hybrid is a good solution, in combination with the Fuel System Cleaner. The FSC keeps the fuel and injection system, manifold, intake valves and combustion chamber clean.

One bottle is suitable for 400 litres of petrol, which equals approximately 8 to 10 refuels. The FSC is also suitable for protecting the fuel system against E10 petrol.
